WordCraft

Unity Developer | Not Boring Company | 2025 | WebGL | Reddit | Hackathon

Infinite word-combining WebGL game for Reddit, built using the Devvit SDK with lightweight runtime performance and AI-assisted systems.

Built a lightweight Reddit-native WebGL game around endless word generation.

WordCraft focused on creating an ultra-lightweight and responsive WebGL experience directly inside Reddit using the Devvit SDK. My work involved gameplay systems, AI integration, WebGL optimization, and bridging Unity with external web-based systems.

Built gameplay flow for a Reddit-native WebGL experience.

What I Built

  • Shipped the core gameplay systems for an infinite word-combining experience designed around fast iteration and lightweight runtime behavior.
  • Designed gameplay flow to remain responsive and readable within Reddit's embedded platform constraints.
  • Focused on keeping the overall interaction loop lightweight, snappy, and accessible.

Impact

  • Created a fast-loading and responsive gameplay experience directly inside Reddit.
  • Helped the project maintain clarity and usability despite WebGL platform limitations.

Bridged Unity gameplay with external AI systems.

What I Built

  • Built an intermediary layer between Unity and LLM-based AI systems.
  • Integrated external web-based systems into the gameplay flow while maintaining responsive runtime behavior.
  • Mentored a co-developer during integration of a 3rd-party web SDK using jslib.

Impact

  • Enabled seamless communication between gameplay systems and external AI-driven systems.
  • Improved implementation flow for integrating non-native web technologies into Unity.

Focused on lightweight runtime performance for WebGL.

What I Built

  • Optimized runtime behavior for a lightweight and fast-loading WebGL experience.
  • Worked around Reddit and Devvit platform constraints to maintain gameplay responsiveness.
  • Focused on reducing unnecessary overhead while keeping gameplay interactions immediate and reactive.

Impact

  • Created a lightweight experience that remained responsive even inside embedded Reddit environments.
  • Maintained smooth gameplay feel despite the technical limitations of WebGL deployment.

Playable directly through Reddit.

The game is roughly 1 year old-ish some backend feature is not fully maintained, if it's not working as expected, please let me know.
